DECAY OF A DAISY CHAIN
Bozeman, Montana. Murder-Suicide
I envision a series of daisy chain photographs taken at sites of gun murder-suicide from each state. My hope is to make pretty pictures about an ugly subject. This is the first time I use these casings and I'm happy with how vibrant they are in the bright Montana light. Thrilled that the blue of the sky perfectly matches the shiny blue casings.
Flagstaff, Arizona. Murder-Suicide
This is the second photograph I take with these casings and they still look good. Now that I have a simple way to set up the casings, it will be easy for me to replicate this concept and complete the series with images from each state. I'm ready to do this!

I take daisy chain photographs at the end of the day after I'm done with my main United States of Ammunition photoshoots. It's surprisingly easy to find an incident of domestic violence murder-suicide in every town. I'll admit that their ubiquity is beginning to make me sad. I'm also finding the sameness of my images tedious and I'm considering only taking a few more pictures.
Fargo, North Dakota. Murder-Suicide
At this site, a man shot and killed his girlfriend, shot and injured her 7 month old baby and then drove off in this car and killed himself. I'm not sure if it's the fact that I'm eating Mexican food in Fargo, North Dakota of all places or if it's that huge margarita that I drank, but this one hit me hard. Who the hell shoots a baby?

I'm losing interest and I'm not that careful with the set up or the quality of the photography. I'm not trying all that hard to recall the exact location of each murder-suicide. I'm growing tired of searching the internet for "recent murder-suicide in ________ " and my photos reflect my deteriorating feelings.

Whatever. Now I'm dumping the casings on the ground and taking photos as quickly as possible. Pretty fed up with this.

I challenge myself to take the worst pictures I can.
